Designed and built between 1675 and 1710 by Sir Christopher Wren, the Cathedral is the fourth to occupy this site. A Cathedral has stood on the site since 604AD. It has become the spiritual focus of the Nation. Since 1697, people and events of great importance have been commemorated here. An important visitor attraction St Pauls remains a busy working church. Among important events held at the Cathedral were, the funerals of Lord Nelson, Winston Churchill and the Duke of Wellington. The silver jubilee of Queen Victoria. The wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer and more recently the Thanksgiving for the Golden Jubillee of Queen Elizabeth II. The nearest underground station is St Pauls on the Central Line. The following buses stop outside the Cathedral No: 4, 11, 15, 23, 26, 100,242 and 25.
